Shelley's hot sculpture practice is beautiful and distinct, creating totemic animal forms that show the influence of glass blower William Morris, but articulate her own language and ideas about the medium in which she works.
Working as a hot sculptor is a collaborative process, with the end product being dependent on the skill of and communication within the team in which it is made. Shelley’s different levels of collaboration within her own team, with her husband Rik when teaching or demonstrating and in their studio business are testament to the many ways in which collaboration is intrinsic to glass based practice. Her voice, knowledge and skills will add a practical dimension to the conference dialogue.
