by car

Whanganui  has easy highway access no matter which direction you're approaching from.  Driving times are influenced by weather, traffic and your pleasure in the surroundings, but as a guide:

  • Wellington is about 200km to the south. It will likely take less than 3 hours to drive.

  • Auckland is some 450km to the north and 6 hours driving.

  • Palmerston North is 80km to the east and about an hour to drive.
